First of all I’d like to start off by saying how much I came to adore this book. It was an unforgettable story truly. And secondly I have absolutely no idea how to go about reviewing this one without talking about the plot line whatsoever. That’s one thing I will refrain from though; talking about the plot. I believe it is a story you must experience yourself first hand and discover everything, go through the motions yourself and only then will you understand my love for this piece of brilliance. Therefore I came to the conclusion that I will discuss some of the thoughts that arose in my mind and the brilliant technique used by this author instead of discussing any aspects of the plot.

This author used a clever technique of suspense and surprise to a degree where it was able to grab the attention of the reader and make them want to carry on reading just to discover the ending. The story has you constantly on edge guessing, plotting scenarios of what you think the lies entail. It’s the perfect way to keep a reader interested put that with writing that’s admirable and you have a great book. I feel rather proud of myself though, how I was able to discover the ‘secret’ pretty early on in the story, that’s probably my Psychology lovin’ senses at work.  But I was still able to figure out how it must have felt not knowing all the way through; a great surprise.

I also think that this story uses the concept of ‘love’ in a way that’s more special and heart touching than other stories. You know how usually when we read a romance we’re all gushy and thinking ‘aww look at those two they’re so cute’ well I truly believe that this is a story which goes a step further. I don’t think romances usually include ‘unconditional love’ regardless of what they say because there will always be a deal breaker but this book demonstrates it perfectly. Layana is a woman who loves deeply and fully without any restrictions or conditions and would be willing to do anything for those whom she loves and I think it’s perfect the way I was able to witness that in this story.

“Love isn’t about being happy. Be single and be happy. Love is about putting him, his sanity, his happiness, first. If you aren’t willing to do that then you aren’t really in love.”

To conclude I highly recommend this story, it is an absolute must read.  It’s steamy, it has the perfect amount of suspense and romance and it will keep you hooked from beginning to end. It’s about lies and secrets and the toll that they take. Be prepared to fall in love.

“True love makes a person reckless, makes them take risks and make sacrifices. True love tests the boundaries of our person, makes us yearn to be better and fight for the ground we stand on. I will fight for this love. Lie for it. Steal for it. It’s worthy of that.”
