Colleen Hoover never disappoints me with her ability to create a beautiful romance story.
Really, her type of romances are my favourite ones.
She really knows how to make me cry and turn me into mush by how cute the story is.
I know many people had issues with this one, but for me it was fantastic. Even though it might seem a little cheesy, I think Colleen can pull it off pretty well. It was pretty cliché but like I said, this totally worked for me. I felt connected to the story, I even believed in their easy fall for each other because it was well explained and written. There’s nothing wrong with including clichés in a story as long as you can pull it off.
I totally adore everything that happened between Owen and Auburn. Man those two were incredibly cute. Auburn has been dealt a lot of shit in life and has always let people walk all over her. But this is her time to grow up and finally do something about it. I feel for her situation, it must be awful having someone take advantage of you but being able to do nothing about it. She totally deserves Owen in her life, after being so incredibly alone for so long. Owen is pretty much perfect for her, but obviously there are many things in the way of them two being together.
One thing I especially think worked for this book was the whole confession theme. All the confessions presented in this book are actually true. I like how the story captures the idea of keeping secrets and never being able to confess. The paintings shown capture the confessions really well. I love the idea of art being able to showcase an individual’s feelings. I notice that Colleen used music to capture feelings and connection in Maybe Someday and this one used artwork. I honestly feel that is such a brilliant idea and is one of the reasons I was able to connect so well with the story.
I also loved the dialogue. I was all guey and melting at the cuteness of it all. Here are a few examples:
Normally, I would probably say something like, this is cheesy as sh*t, But I don’t know, I kinda like this in this story.I think every one should get acquainted with it if they haven’t done so already.
