Favourite Five: Book Quotes

Note: Adopted from The Broke and the Bookish – Top Ten Tuesday

Hola Amigos! I’m beginning to venture more and more out of reviewing. It’s great doing new things such as book tags and top favourite posts! There are just so many quotes out there (of course there would be as there are books involved, which doesn’t make this the easiest post to be honest). However, here’s a list of favourite five book quotes my research led me to.

  1. “Understanding did not provide solace or make the pain go away; in many ways, understanding was just more salt in the emotional wound. Ignorance allowed one to fight back with unfettered cruelty. Understanding inspired empathy, which led to guilt, as well as suffering.”

from Terrorscape (Horrorscape book 3) by Nenia Campbell

Gah this woman has mad writing skills. This series is a piece of art. Her work always brings something new and unique to the table.  I haven’t yet read a book of hers which doesn’t completely wow me, and I don’t think I ever will. SO much talent.

2. “If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.”

from Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

I can’t discuss quotes and not include a Wuthering Heights quote. That would be completely insane. I don’t know, this book is incredibly heart breaking but at the same time it speaks volumes to each of its readers, thus words which are hard not to love. We all like happiness and fairy dust but this… it’s real talk.

3. “When you really love someone, you cannot walk away. No matter what they do. No matter the lies from their mouth, or the actions from their bodies, you tie yourself tightly to their sail and vow to be there through thick and thin. Let the wind blow you where it may. Even if that place is a crash. Even if that place tears you apart and kills anything good.”

from Black Lies by Alessandra Torre

This is a 100% accurate definition of love. Seriously, the concept of love is difficult to comprehend and if you ever find yourself wondering what it is….read this book! *chucks book in your face*

4. “Who fixes broken people? Is it only other broken people, ones who’ve already been ruined? And do we need to be fixed? It was the messiness and hurt in our pasts that drove us, and that same hurt connected us at a subdermal level, the kind of scars written so deeply in your cells that you can’t even see them anymore, only recognize them in someone else.”

from Unteachable by Leah Raeder

This is like one of those deep things you think about whilst laying in bed late at night. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

5. “Love is a decision.

It’s not an emotion that we see on movie screens or read about in books. It isn’t the dramatic crescendo that leads to happily ever after.

Love is hard work.

It’s the decision you make, knowing your differences, knowing your flaws, but choosing anyway, because you can’t imagine life without that person.”

from These are the moments by Jenny Bravo

Do you ever discover a debut author who puts out this wonderfully, emotional ridden book which makes you cry and feel good at the same time? This book did it for me. I will even go as far as putting an unrelated to this post recommendation out there on reading this book. Seriously, READ!

I would love to know some of your favourite book quotes! Let me know!
