Genre: Romantic Suspense

I don’t think I’ve read a Mafia themed book since like, J.M. Darhower’s By Any Other name. It’s hard to ignore a good Mafia book… I’m always attracted to those. So naturally, when I saw these I added it to my to be read pile straight away! And boy am I glad that I’ve actually read it.

I think the author has succeeded in giving her readers a world which they can get lost in. With this being the first book in this series, it would be difficult not to come back for seconds in the second part. I’m honestly very thrilled by this release.

Yes this a Mafia storyline. May be a little different to what you’re used to already as it does have something to do with an ‘arranged marriage’. Lily’s been looked after her brother for almost all her life. She was away for a couple years traveling but now her brother Dino has called her back to their hometown. Damian works for ‘The Outfit’ and he’s very close to Lily’s brother. But he has a marriage proposition for the two…

I want to talk about Damian and how difficult it was not to get caught up in him. What a classic and charming fellow! It’s honestly difficult not be like him. He portrays the perfect role in being Lily’s other half and guardian. He knows his duties and he abides by them, I liked how he took over and took care of Lily just for the sake of honour and being a gentleman.

One thing the author does really well is bringing in side characters which are related to the story, but they’re too interesting. I don’t think there’s a single one who didn’t capture my interest as much as the main characters did. Well aside from Damian of course. Lily’s siblings for example, her friends, the other families, I have high hopes of getting everyone’s story in the near future! They have a certain pull to them and then you begin to wonder about their own stories.

This is hands down a must read. It’s highly entertaining and there’s a certain pull to it right from the start. Like you can just feel the something major coming on the other side. The writing, storyline…. everything is done to brilliance. Bethany-Kris, you have completely wowed me.
