My Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5
This story surrounds the road trip of two married couples; Nate and Rayya and Karman and Jay. Both very different from one another. They decide to take a road trip, and whilst on this trip they are beginning to see new doors open for each other, through the help of one another. Something is stopping them from breaking through barriers and being their true selves. This story is about opening up, being truthful and doing what you want without caring for what others think.
There were many things I liked about this book, one being that it was very multicultural. It showed a lot of unity, every character is a different mix of ethnicity and when I see integration in books it makes me happy to be a part of the book community. To see that we are growing and moving forward in this world.
The story touched upon couple’s exploration of each other, how even after years of being together we can still be insecure around the other. It shows them dealing with communication issues, of expressing their feelings to one another and of having confidence and trust in your partner. This book has a deeper story to tell which is why I enjoyed reading it so much.
Before reading this I think you need to go in with an open mind to truly take the book for what it is. It isn’t just another book about sex, it’s trying to communicate a message to it’s audience through the journey each character takes on their own. Bottom line; I loved it.
“When you love someone, really love them, that’s the sexiest thing there is.”
