My Rating: 5 stars out of 5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
What happens after? No one ever really thinks about that, what happens after all the drama and heartbreak and lies. I have so many words for this story but I’m finding it hard to put them into writing. Like where do I even start?
Firstly, if you haven’t read the ‘If I Break’ series by Portia Moore then I strongly urge you to do so. This continues from the way the last book ended but it’s not a story about the same characters. This is about Will and Gwen and Lisa. This was so much different than other books. The viewpoints alternate between Gwen and Lisa, we get their background, their story and thoughts. With a little bit of Will here and there, but really when have we gotten a book like this where the view point was told from the other woman? This is just one of the reasons why I loved this so much because there are ALWAYS two sides to every story and one person may be in the wrong but it doesn’t make them a bad person.
We always hate the other woman. But we never really put on her shoes. She is just human after all and makes mistakes. I am not saying what she does is right but at the same time I understand. Yes, I did get mad because it wasn’t just sex for Lisa but she thought she was in love and possibly wanted to destroy a marriage which really got me worked up. Not just that but her best friends father. But at the same time, I think we judge a lot when in fact this is real life and this happens because love isn’t always hearts and flowers but it’s fighting and being unable to stay away from one another.
I loved the writing, I loved the story line and I loved the characters. Especially the bond between Gwen and her sister Gia. Gia loves her like she’s her mother, unconditionally and honestly that sister bond touched me more then anything. It’s hard to talk about, but it will be apparent once you read the book!
I felt this book was a lot about karma, what goes around comes around. You never think it would happen to you but it does. It was also about real love and being about to fight for it no matter what. I mean we don’t see that a lot, so it was nice to see it happen in a book.
I would recommend this book to absolutely everyone. It is hands down one of the best books I have read this year, I might even like it more than the ‘If I break’ series. There was just something about it which is really hard to shake off. 5 stars no doubt. You must read What Happens After for yourself.
