My Rating: 3 starts out of 5

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I think I am the one of the few, if not the only one who didn’t get as much from this book as I would have expected. I loved Brittany’s loving Mr Daniels. That book made me shed tears and gave me like a million feels. Even though the concept of this book was emotional, I just felt detached to the story.

Having said that, there were scenes which made my heart warm and which I truly loved. They were set perfectly and I definitely enjoyed those particular scenes. But I think there were gaps in the story line. The first half was way too fast. There were bits missing on how Tristan and Lizzie grew a bond. I know Brittany’s incredibly talented at this sort of stuff, so I don’t know how I didn’t really grow attached to both of these characters. They just instantly fell together it seemed after everything that happened. May the book should have been split into two parts to make room for more detail?

I know the writing was written in very emotional language. I am probably one of the most emotional readers out there and to say I never shed a single tear while reading this is saying something. I don’t know why I just couldn’t connect and couldn’t feel. I felt like even though the writing was trying to convey emotion, it wasn’t written with emotion. I don’t even know how to explain it.

Regardless, I ended up finishing this story because I did want to know how it ended. The ending was actually quite fantastic. Apart from the parts talking about emotion, it was very capturing. I liked how everything came together in the end. I think that ended up saving this story a little for me.

I do look forward to reading more from Brittany. I don’t know if I will be reading from this particular Element’s series if they are any similar. But I will for her other works. I know a lot of people loved this so may be it is just me and not the book. I would recommend forming your own opinion and reading it because you might end up loving it. Sadly, it was just OK for me.
