So, first of all, I am sorry for being away from blogging for so long! Oh how I have missed it! I have a lot of reviews to post! I read this book in March but I need to post all the reviews I haven’t yet had the chance to. I promise I am back as normal though!
This was a really fun book to read. After hearing so many great things about it, I just had to read it.
I really liked the story line. I’ve never really read a grown up fantasy, I didn’t know what to expect but this was good. Somewhat long however (I usually only enjoy long YA, I know, I’m weird). But still good. From beginning to end we see a great character growth for Ox. You know, sometimes you get shit but it works out eventually. In the beginning especially my heart hurt for this little boy who’s father was this horrible person but he thought it was love and looked up to him so much. It was hard to handle but Ox eventually found his own family.
Joe was the most amazing little boy. So clingy but so adorable. His admiration for Ox from the beginning, when Ox wasn’t even sure of himself was everything. He helped Ox as much as Ox helped him. Once you learn more about the two, their relationship becomes more clearer.
Getting to the writing style, it really fit in during the beginning part of the story. But as time went on it might have slightly got annoying. It gave me a headache sometimes, just because it went throughout the whole book. And the book was long. So I’m still on the fence about that. I liked it and I didn’t at the same time.
This is definitely something everyone needs to read at some point. I am excited to see what the stories of the other characters in the book; Mark, Gondo, Kelly, Carter, Robbie, will lead to.
